The launch of these 3 fun, new flavors mark our latest milestone: 3 years of Open Chain - our industry-wide initiative that helps other chocolate brands to adopt our 5 Sourcing Principles to source their cocoa in fair and sustainable ways. Because at Tony’s, we believe in sharing our chocolate and our way of working.
We’ve moved choco mountains with our Open Chain partners to change the norm in chocolate. Together with Albert Heijn’s Delicata, Aldi’s Choco Changer, Jokolade and Vly, we’ve purchased no less than 26 million kilos of traceable beans through Open Chain over the past 3 years. That’s a whole lotta good-doin’ bars right there. As a result, almost 9000 farmers received more than 13,5 million Euros in additional premiums. The outcome? Paying farmers a higher price and investing in productivity enables them to earn a living income. The cherry on top? We're all in it for long haul with 5-year commitments to our Co-ops.
So keep a lookout for that yellow ‘slave-free’ button to be sure you’re chomping down on impact choco every step of the way. If that doesn’t spell ‘team work is dream work’, we don’t know what does!
