The Chocolonely Foundation supports project and organizations that contribute to prosperous cocoa-growing communities in Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana, facilitate systemic change and challenge the status quo. While it shares a name with us (Tony's), it's actually an independent organization and its board makes its own decisions.

how is the Chocolonely Foundation different from Tony's Chocolonely?

We (Tony's) work towards ending exploitation in cocoa by changing the industry from within. How? By producing and selling crazy tasty chocolate made from cocoa that we sourced responsibly, according to our 5 Sourcing Principles.The Chocolonely Foundation focuses on other stuff, like providing funding or social loans for things like school fees. Money earned in the cocoa season is being paid during the season, so it's possible that farmers do not have enough money to send their kids to school in September. The Foundation can help with this, making sure the farmer communities are more stable and take fewer risks.

how's the Foundation funded?

To support the foundation, Tony's Chocolonely donates 1% of its net revenue to the Chocolonely Foundation every year. The Foundation uses these funds to support a broad range of projects + initiatives that address these impact areas:

  • strong, resilient + inclusive cocoa communities
  • poverty and prosperity
  • enabling environments in cocoa-growing communities
rotating school fund for farmers' children
shelter and reintegration of victims of child trafficking and slavery
