a year in the US of A

After our home port in Amsterdam, we crossed the ocean in October 2015...

The Netherlands is beautiful, but not big enough to make an impact and change the entire cocoa industry. And that's exactly what we want. Our goal is 100% slave-free chocolate. Not just our chocolate, but all chocolate worldwide. The chance that we will get 100% market share ourselves is quite small, which is why we need the chocolate giants. Because only together can we make 100% slave-free the standard in chocolate.

Tony's goes international
So we cross borders. If we want the big chocolate giants to follow our example, it is important that we also become a relevant player outside the Netherlands. There too we have to show that making chocolate can be done differently; that as a chocolate maker you can be commercially successful and at the same time take responsibility in the cocoa chain. We want to inspire others to take action. It is the 3rd pillar of our roadmap to 100% slave-free chocolate: a good example to follow!

Hello PDX!
And so we did. After our home port in Amsterdam, we crossed the ocean in October 2015. On to 'the land of opportunities': the United States of America. The US has 3 of the 5 largest chocolate makers, who together control more than 35% of the chocolate market. So pretty big! We wanted to start close to the progressive, conscious American. And you can find it in Portland, Oregon. Our first US bars were at fellow B Corp New Seasons Market, and several supermarkets, delicatessens and gift shops were soon added. .

How we roll..
How are things going now? Well, they like us! American chocolate fans are touched when they hear our story. They like our chocolate and are happy with the colorful wrappers that pop off the shelf. And our bars are also relatively affordable and twice as large. A win-win! As a result, we compete with larger and smaller American chocolate makers. Our bars can be ordered from all over the country via our US webshop (yeah!), so they fly across the country. On the map you can see in which states our bars are already available. Of course, this does not all happen automatically. Team Tony's in the US now consists of four Tony's: Maudi, Peter, Meredith and Heather. Together they ensure that our story and our chocolate are shared with our American chocolate friends.
