Tony's gives #slavefreerecipe as a gift to chocolate companies

We give our recipe for slave-free cocoa as a gift to all chocolate companies

Recipes and test models. Something to keep secret for most companies. In fact: patentable... But not for Tony's Chocolonely. We give our recipe for slave-free cocoa as a gift to all chocolate companies. “Huh, gift..?”, we hear you think. Exactly yes. Because it's time to share.

#slavefreerecipe
Now that we have managed to include cocoa butter from traceable cocoa beans in our bar, the ingredient list of our recipe for slavefree cocoa is complete. We have worked hard on the recipe and are convinced that cocoa farmers can earn a living income in this way, putting an end to slavery, exploitation and child labor on cocoa plantations. And of course we are not secretive about that. We believe in transparency, and therefore... in open source. So that other chocolate makers can follow or improve our recipe. Because... together it goes faster. Tony's recipe for slave-free cocoa has five ingredients:

  • traceable cocoa beans
  • a higher price
  • strong farmers
  • long term cooperation
  • better quality and productivity

You will find it on the inside of the wrappers of our three bright, red-blue-white (Tony's for milk, pure and white) Limited Editions.

Test model
All cocoa beans (for our cocoa mass and therefore also for our cocoa butter) will soon be known beans, which we purchase directly according to our recipe for slave-free cocoa from our partner cooperatives Kapatchiva, ECAM, SOCOOPACDI and ECOJAD in Ivory Coast and ABOCFA and Suhum Union in Ghana. From November 2016, Tony's one and only traceable cocoa butter will be in all our bars. Hurrah! We will celebrate that at our FAIR. But... we already have something for you to taste. Our Limited Edition white carrot walnut is made from the test production of Tony's white chocolate with traceable cocoa butter, so a real test model.

Pass it on..
With Tony's recipe for slave-free cocoa, we show that chocolate can be made differently, without slavery and exploitation. But we can't do it alone. We ask you, our chocolate fans, to actively share the recipe via social media. Pass it on to chocolate companies, share it with #slavefreerecipe and invite them for a look behind the scenes. Our door is wide open for criticism, points of improvement or a good conversation. Bring it on! Because on our own we make our chocolate slave-free, but together we make all chocolate 100% slave-free.
