Tony's collaboration with Sallcon

Tony's Chocolonely stands for good, social working conditions throughout the chain. That is why we answer the Batavirus blog . We work together with Müller Fresh Food Logistics and through them also with Sallcon. Tony's Chocolonely has had Easter eggs in the egg carton in its range since 2010. And since 2011, the eggs have been repackaged in Deventer at the Sallcon sheltered employment facility.

Collaboration with Müller
Müller has been Tony's logistics service provider for warehousing and transportation. The commercial and operational relationship with Sallcon goes through Müller. There are practical reasons behind this. The chocolate stock is at Müller: the coordination of supply and disposal of products runs through them. With this form of collaboration, Tony's Chocolonely has a single point of contact for all logistics and value added logistics (repackaging work); namely Müller. And in this way, Tony's Chocolonely contributes to the success of sheltered employment in Deventer, which fits within the social mission of the company.

Sallcon
Despite the indirect, operational relationship, knows Tony's Sallcon well. We visit the location at least three times a year for consultation and support. In addition to Easter eggs, Sallcon does even more of Tony's repackaging work; Sinterklaas and Christmas displays and, for example, assortment boxes. We have always experienced Sallcon as an enterprising, social employment facility. We are very satisfied with the company's performance, such as the timeliness and completeness of their work. Both parties are proud of the collaboration and Tony's Chocolonely supports its mention in the annual report of KonnecteD/Sallcon.

KonnecteD
Konnected is a network organization for labor market developments in Deventer and surroundings. It is a holding company that includes three different units; including Sallcon and the Deventer Werktalent unit. Sallcon's role has remained unchanged for many years, namely to implement the Social Employment Act (WSW), which has been converted into the Participation Act since 1/1/2015. Sallcon only employs people with a WSW employment contract; with the exception of a handful of regular jobs (including work management). These employment contracts are remunerated in accordance with the WSW collective labor agreement. Sallcon does not hire employees: not from Deventer Werktalent and not from Werk Makelaar Oost.

Deventer Werktalent's task, among other things, is to mediate social assistance recipients to new work, but since Sallcon does not hire of social assistance recipients, there are therefore no employment relationships between the above-mentioned parties for the work done for Tony's by Sallcon.
UPDATE: KonnecteD has released the following after publication of our blog know: 'For example, someone who comes to pack Easter eggs for a few days in the context of reintegration has been helped with rhythm and a first step, and is happy about it very welcome.'. This is done to promote reintegration and they ensure that this takes a maximum of a few days.

Act and statutory minimum wage
As of 1/1/15, the Sheltered Employment Act became the Participation Act, introduced by State Secretary Kleinsma. This new law now also includes social assistance recipients. The aim of the law is to guide both groups to (as) regular (possible) jobs. The WSW and associated collective labor agreement still apply to Sallcon and its activities.

Within Sallcon, all employees have a so-called WSW employment contract and are as such on the Sallcon payroll. Salary is in accordance with the WSW collective labor agreement and is equal to or higher than the statutory minimum wage.

In the context of our mission, we want good working conditions for everyone involved in our chain. Tony's Chocolonely implements an intensive social policy in its chain, in Africa but certainly also in the Netherlands. In this context, Tony's Chocolonely is very happy with the partnership with Müller and Sallcon. Naturally, we will inform ourselves about the state of affairs at KonnecteD, Deventer Werktalent and Werk Makelaar Oost, even though we are currently not doing business with them (directly or indirectly).
